"passionate about our local area and its people - always learning and active"

Ashurst W.I. was formed in 1962 and with 34 members from a mixed age range, we celebrate and learn about all that our local area, in the beautiful New Forest, has to offer.

Meeting once a month on the second Wednesday at St. Joseph's, Lyndhurst Road, Ashurst at 7.30 p.m., we enjoy a variety of entertaining and social evenings throughout the year.

We are passionate about the W.I. campaigns too and in 2017 our W.I. linked up with the local church group to provide lunches and social time for those who find it difficult, for whatever reason, to get out and about in our local community.  We have also supported the local Parish Council and provided refreshments etc for their summer outdoor fetes and Jubilee event.

We have set ourselves some interesting challenges at our meetings to try and involve all members. Our competitions range from making a Christmas decoration, creating a gingerbread house, bringing in an interesting item related to the speaker’s subject, guessing our younger selves from old photos or producing a beautiful flower from our garden.
